    • Work from architectural plans and base files or land planning documents to produce engineering construction documents in Revit
    • Understand and use established company standards for drafting including layer names, line and character styles, drawings and window names, and file names for sheet layout
    • Be proficient in preparing plan drawings in Revit
    • Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision

    The Project Engineer role at BIG RED DOG is responsible for assisting Project Managers and Project Designers in the preparation and coordination of engineering design documents. The primary role of the Project Engineer is in the completion of engineering designs and developing construction plans.

    • The Project Engineer will work directly for a licensed engineer and perform various tasks related to municipal infrastructure design and prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. The position requires a background in site development design, grading plans, drainage layouts and reports, schematic layouts, permitting application documents, roadway and/or utility plan and profile preparation, cost estimating, bid and construction phase support. The Project Engineer should have experience and knowledge of municipal design parameters, understanding of development codes, specifications and guidelines and ability to take limited guidance and lead projects. This role will require engagement with team members and various other disciplines while ensuring compliance with QAQC procedures.
    • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of projects to include site development, grading plans, drainage plans, utility design, roadway layouts, and pedestrian and traffic related amenities
    • Assist with preparing project permit applications, supporting documents, and reports
    • Accountable for the successful design and construction oversight of engineering projects
    • Assist with developing design schedules, preliminary scoping, cost estimating and project tracking throughout all phases
    • Participating in client or contractor meetings as a BRD representative during design and construction to provide engineering support and resolutions
    • Capable of participating in BRD business development activities with clients and sub consultants, attend engineering industry events and be actively involved in engineering organizations.

    Education/Experience

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

    • Ability to produce construction documents for general municipal infrastructure projects.
    • Desire to work in a growing, intense, and entrepreneurial environment.
    • Energetic, proactive, and motivated while paying close attention to schedule, detail, and quality. 
    • Project leadership capabilities to oversee designers and a willingness to perform roles in support of project managers.
    • Understanding of applicable standards, specifications, development codes and quality control procedures required to deliver infrastructure projects.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to network and develop relationships within the engineering community.
    • Experience using Microstation and Autocad platforms to design projects.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office tools and GIS software is essential.
    • Construction oversight and construction management experience is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and guidance and keep other team members productive.
    • Organized, with the ability to multi-task and work on concurrent projects while effectively communicating with internal and external team members.
    • Task leadership and project management experience is a plus.

    Professional Requirements: 

    • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
    • 3-5 years of engineering experience
    • Must have Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
