Engineering firm expands offices to prepare for continued growth in San Antonio
Big Red Dog is getting ready to become even bigger. As its workload grows and hiring spree continues, the engineering consultant’s San Antonio office will more than double its physical footprint in the city.
Big Red Dog currently leases 2,700 square feet in the R.L. Worth & Associates-developed University Heights Business Park at 5710 W. Hausman Road. Once work is completed, that lease will be increased to roughly 6,000 square feet.
Russel Yeager, the firm’s San Antonio vice president, said the physical expansion will help Big Red Dog in planning for future growth. The firm already has residential projects such as the Peanut Factory Lofts and the District at Medical Center under its belt so far this year, and with future work on Lonestar and the 242-unit Vitre, Big Red Dog won’t be slowing down.
Yeager said that while the firm looked at new office space in areas surrounding the Pearl and downtown San Antonio, it decided to stay in its current space because of pricing, parking and convenience.
He added that “uniqueness is always important, and we would pay more for it. But right now, most of downtown just doesn’t make sense.”
That seems to be a common sentiment among companies looking for commercial sites in San Antonio’s urban core, but hopefully one of Big Red Dog’s future projects can help turn the trend around.
