BIG RED DOG recently partnered with ULI North Texas to organize a one of kind event—a tour of local Trail/Transit Oriented Development…on bicycles. The City of Dallas has recently welcomed 4 bike-share companies into their city including Vbikes, Spin, LimeBike and Ofo. These affordable modes of transportation are transforming the urban landscape and catalyzing a city that is thirsty for alternatives modes of transportation.
The tour started out at the Katy Trail Ice House and proceeded north along the once train track turned urban pedestrian corridor Katy Trail up to the new Perot Offices and then onto StreetLights Residential’s latest multifamily project, The McKenzie.
We then proceeded to the newly finished Mocking Bird Pedestrian Bridge at Mockingbird Station. Jared White from the City of Dallas explained all of the work that went into this iconic structure and its importance in connecting the widely used Katy Trail and White Rock Creek trail systems.
After all of the sightseeing, the tour headed back to the Katy Trail Ice House for a happy hour and appetizers and a grand total of 7.4 miles of bicycling.
BIG RED DOG understands Transit Oriented Developments and has partnered with owners/developers all over Texas to design and build these projects including Lake Highlands Town Center in Dallas, currently under construction.
