Skylines From The Ground Up: Marissa Wyrick mentors STEM students about careers in engineering

December 7, 2018 by Kelly Daacon

This week, Marissa Wyrick was featured in a Virtual Field Trip with EarthEcho International and STEMExplore!

EarthEcho International highlights relatable voices and exciting life experiences to make careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) come alive for middle school and high school students.

In this virtual field trip conducted through YouTube Live, students from across the country were able to learn about Marissa’s path into engineering and how her passions led her to discover her career. Students were also able to ask Marissa questions about her experiences, education, and career.

Marissa shared her experiences and challenges, such as being a female in a male-dominated industry, ways to handle failure and keep focused on your goals, and how mentors can be a valuable resource to have along the way. She also discusses the various organizations that have helped her along the way, including the Society of Women Engineers.

Thanks for being a great role model, Marissa!
