Staff Spotlight: Rigo Charo

February 8, 2017 by Amy Hageman

Our team members put forth extraordinary efforts on behalf of our clients and they deserve to be recognized. For this week’s staff spotlight, we’d like to introduce you to Rigo Charo, a Civil Senior Designer in our Austin office. You can get to know a little bit more about what makes Rigo great below!

Where are you originally from?  Laredo, Texas

Tell us something really interesting about you.  I have a custom design/framing business that I run from my home consisting of providing custom designs/logos, glass etching, poster/picture framing, murals and photo restoration (with hopefully more services to come in the future).  I also enjoy attending live concert events, with 2015 holding a personal record of 30 shows.

Everyone at BIG RED DOG has a story about why they joined the team. What’s yours?  I wanted to work with great people in an environment where they really care about their employees, in all positions.

What drew you to the engineering field?  I obtained a position with a company before graduating technical school and that pretty much set me on my path.

What was your first job?  CAD tech at Freese & Nichols in Austin, Texas (working in Dam design/inspection)

Who or what inspires you?  Knowing I need to provide and take care of my son.

Where’s your favorite place to eat in Austin /Houston/Dallas (whichever city you live in)?  East Side Pies (my son’s favorite pizza joint)

What do you like to do in your free time?  Spend time with my son, work on my business, and visit with family.

What’s your favorite news source?  Local news channel

Do you have any pets?  No

Describe your ideal vacation.  Going to a concert festival consisting of all my favorite artists, preferably near/around San Francisco.

What would be impossible for you to give up?  My love for music/art.

Who is your favorite sports team?  Washington Redskins

Best vacation ever?  Visiting a friend in Sacramento for the 2015 Aftershock Festival

Last book I read?  Gimp a biography of a close friend, Mark Zupan
