BIG RED DOG provides engineering services for a multitude of project types across several disciplines including Civil, Structural, MEP, and Traffic. In this video, Bailey Harrington, P.E. and Marc Remmert, P.E. talk about hotel and hospitality projects, and how BIG RED DOG’s collaborative approach and expertise in this market help create memorable experiences for the end user. Check it out:
What’s different about hotel, restaurant, and hospitality projects from a site development perspective, and how does BIG RED DOG approach these challenges?
Bailey Harrington: There’s usually a mix of hotel units, restaurants, bars and retail, and that all makes setting up the site a little challenging – but in a good way. You have to take into account accessibility, parking, street frontage, and a lot of times there’s a valet component – especially in urban infill. With a good amount of effort and a great design team, you really make a great project like the South Congress Hotel.
Marc Remmert: I think what makes hospitality different than other projects is there’s a common experience that a person needs to feel when they walk into a space. Whether it’s in the lobby, the restaurants, the bars, the hotel rooms – there’s one common experience that needs to be shared throughout the space. At BIG RED DOG, we recognize the importance of that experience and we care about how it comes off. There’s a coordination with all sorts of different consultants to make that project successful through one shared experience.
Why should hospitality and hotel developers reach out to BIG RED DOG when they are assembling their design team for their next project?
Bailey Harrington: I would say that any client looking at BIG RED DOG that’s interested in partnering on a project that they’re building in Austin, elsewhere around the state of Texas, or in the country, know that we’re passionate about your project. We’re passionate about making it a world-class project, regardless of the type of project or location. Because at the end of the day, our name goes on that project along with your name, and we want it to be a world-class institution that people enjoy being in.
