Under Construction: Leander Transit Oriented Development (TOD)

BIG RED DOG is working with B&A Architects INC., and Kudela & Weinheimer on the Leander Multifamily TOD project, located at 1680 Hero Way in north Austin.

This 225 unit, multifamily project is the first transit oriented development project to be built in Leander. The building will stand 3 stories tall and contain 421,396 square feet.  The 9.673 acre project also includes 372 parking spaces and 37 bike spaces.

Construction started on the site in March 2015. Civil Engineering services provided by BIG RED DOG Austin included preliminary engineering, site development permit, storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP), Edwards Aquifer contributing zone plan (CZP), preliminary subdivision plan, final subdivision plat, subdivision construction documents, and construction phase services.

Kelly Daacon is the Construction Manager for BIG RED DOG in Austin. At BIG RED DOG, Kelly is responsible for tracking all of our projects in varying phases of construction to ensure progress and timely completion. He works with contractors, clients, and project managers to address potential conflicts during construction. Prior to joining BRD, his experience includes work with engineering and commercial construction firms working on large building and infrastructure projects in Texas, Florida, Georgia, and the Caribbean. Kelly graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. He is a registered E.I.T. in the state of Texas and a LEED Accredited Professional. Kelly is the past president and current board member of the Austin UCF Alumni Club and is active with ASCE, ULI, and RECA. In his spare time, he enjoys running, cycling, and working on renovation projects in his East Austin home.
